Martinez Hair Salon opened on July 4th and has been strictly following the hygiene and safety guidelines set by the government. The safety of our clients and of course our staff has been and remains our number one priority. To open, we carried out a full COVID-19 risk assessment to determine the strict safety protocols that we would have to follow and to determine the maximum number of clients that can reasonably follow social distancing guidelines. You will therefore find the salon looks a little different. Also, in order to adhere to the stringent safeguards, we won’t be able to offer you any refreshments or magazines. This article explains in detail what we are doing to keep you safe and what you can expect on your visit to the salon.
General practices for keeping customers safe
• Longer opening hours
• Staggered shifts
• Special slots for more vulnerable people
• No walk-in appointments – you must pre-book
• Hand sanitiser at the entrance of the salon

Guidelines for clients to Martinez Hair Salon
At time of booking, it may be necessary to ask you a couple of questions before your visit about the possibility of you having contracted coronavirus. This is quite normal procedure. We will also take your details so we can keep a temporary record to assist Test and Trace. Wherever possible, you are asked to visit the salon for your hairdressing appointment on your own. However, we fully understand that this won’t be possible if children have been booked in. Unless you have a medical exemption, we ask you to wear masks.
Arriving at the salon for your hair appointment
When you arrive at the salon, we will take your temperature and we also have the NHS Test and Trace app. Arriving promptly would really be appreciated and we will endeavour that appointments do not overrun or overlap. For safety and hygiene reasons, please bring as few belonging as possible and pay with cards.

Fewer workstations to ensure social distancing
Advanced and frequent cleaning procedures have been implemented to keep you safe. The salon has also been redesigned to ensure that social distancing guidelines can be followed and the number of clients allowed in at any one time is strictly regulated. We have a rope barrier at the door so that we can control who comes into the salon and you will only be allowed in once it is safe to do so.
• Salon space adheres to social distancing regulations
• Client chairs are well-spaced
• Social distancing signs and floor markings
• All surfaces are cleaned with the appropriate sanitiser between appointments
• Equipment is disinfected before and after every service/appointment
• Gowns and towels are only used once
• The salon has as much ventilation as possible

The team is kitted out with PPE
As always, you can expect a professional service from all of the team at Martinez Hair Salon. They have been trained to look after you in a safe and hygienic manner. All of our staff will wash/sanitise their hands after every client interaction as an absolute minimum. They will also wear full-face plastic visors, gloves and aprons in order to reduce the risk of the spread of infection. The team have been briefed not to come to the salon if they are feeling unwell and have a temperature or if anyone in their household is not feeling well or is self-isolating.
• Staff rotas and staggered start times and breaks
• Salon staff remain at the same workstation wherever possible
• Regular staff training on new developments
