Do the Twist
Forget complicated plaits, twisted hair is the new way to add interest to easy everyday styles. Whether loosely pulled back over beachy waves or to create an interesting take on the beloved milkmaid braids, Alberta Ferretti uses twists to create an expensive sleek look that will be replicated throughout spring. Prep damp hair with Super Sculpt Styling Glaze (£10.50) to create flexible control. Split the hair into several sections, wrapping them around each other and discretely pinning to look like rope. Set the hair with Freeze and Shine Super Spray (£13.50) to create a polished look perfect for summer.
The Effortless Pony
This season ponytails will be loose and dishevelled, looking elegantly carefree. They can be tied to one side like at Vivienne Westwood or at the nape of the neck as seen at Moncler Gamme Rouge. Spritz hair with Awapuhi Wild Ginger Texturizing Sea Spray (£20.50) and lightly backcomb around the crown using the Paul Mitchell Teasing Brush (£7.50) creating touchable texture. Loosely gather hair into a low ponytail and release strands at the front of the style to frame the face.
Going for ‘Rose’ Gold
The rose gold phenomenon is set to make its way to hair colour this season. Soft rose gold tones will become a firm trend favourite along with the pale silver and cool lilac tints that emerged last year. Tonal washes of colour will create extra definition and add a sophisticated update to a current trend favourite. Lock in pastel hues for longer using the Ultimate Color Repair system, helping to prevent fade and damage to coloured tresses.
Tucked Back Tresses
Most trends forbid pushing hair behind the ears for fear of ruining the look, but this season sees this rule turned on its head. Hair is pulled away from the face and tucked behind the ears. This trend can vary from sleek and glossy to messy out-of-bed hair as seen at Versace. Achieve the look by combing Sculpting Foam (£11.50) through towel-dry hair to create crunch-free texture and roughly blow dry using the Neuro Dry (£99.95) to add body to mid-lengths and ends.
Roksanda Ilincic has embraced the revival of crimping for 2016 but this time with a difference, focusing solely on the strands that frame the face. Crimp closely to the root using the Express Ion Crimp and continue down three quarters of the length, creating this year’s take on tousled waves. Apply a small amount of Extra-Body Finishing Spray (£14.95) to add volume to crimped lengths and achieve the catwalk style.
